Building confidence beyond the classroom

Siena joined Doxabeta to gain practical experience, understand more about the workplace and build confidence in professional environments.

Her placement gave her the opportunity to work on real activities, collaborate with others and begin translating what she had learned in education into practical experience.

Learning through experience

Throughout her placement, Siena was exposed to different parts of the Doxabeta learner journey, including an Innovation Challenge and Doxabeta Uplift.

These experiences helped her strengthen skills such as:

• presenting ideas

• problem-solving

• organisation

• professional confidence

• receiving and applying feedback

• reflecting on her own development

Each activity gave her another opportunity to practise working in a professional way and become more comfortable contributing her ideas.

Developing confidence through contribution

Confidence often grows when learners are trusted with real responsibility.

As Siena became more involved in projects and collaborative activities, she had opportunities to contribute, ask questions and learn from others.

That practical exposure helped her become more confident in her own abilities and more aware of the skills she could bring into future opportunities.

Exploring what comes next

A placement is also a chance to learn about yourself.

Through her experience at Doxabeta, Siena was able to reflect on the kinds of work she enjoyed, the skills she wanted to strengthen and the opportunities she may want to explore in the future.

That clarity is an important part of progression.

Not every learner needs to leave a placement with a job title already decided. Sometimes the most valuable outcome is greater confidence, stronger evidence and a clearer sense of direction.

Continuing her journey

Following her Doxabeta experience, Siena moved into her final year, carrying forward the practical experience and professional confidence developed during her placement.

Her journey is still unfolding — but she is moving forward with a stronger understanding of what she can do and what she wants to build next.
