Building Work-Ready Skills Through Industry Placements

25 learners. One step closer to the workplace.

Doxabeta recently completed its 2025/26 industry placement intake, supporting 25 learners through structured real-world experience designed to bridge the gap between education and employment.

For many learners, a placement is one of the first opportunities to experience professional expectations beyond the classroom — working with teams, contributing to projects, receiving feedback and understanding how their skills translate into the workplace.

Our aim was simple: give learners meaningful experience they could build on.

The experience

Throughout the programme, learners took part in practical workplace activities, projects and professional development designed to strengthen both technical and transferable skills.

Learners developed skills including:

• communication and teamwork

• problem-solving and critical thinking

• time management and organisation

• professional confidence

• project collaboration

• presenting ideas and receiving feedback

• understanding workplace expectations

• reflecting on skills, progress and future goals

The emphasis was not simply on completing hours. It was about helping learners understand how they work, where they can improve and what they may want to pursue next.

Learning through real work

Real-world experience creates a different type of learning.

Learners have to communicate with new people, manage deadlines, respond to feedback and contribute to work beyond the classroom.

That exposure helps turn knowledge into practical capability.

Across the 2025/26 cohort, learners were encouraged to take greater ownership of their work, ask questions, collaborate with others and build evidence of what they had achieved.

Building readiness for what comes next

Industry placements are not an end point. They are part of a wider progression journey.

For some learners, the next step may be further study. For others, it could be an apprenticeship, internship, employment or another opportunity to deepen their industry experience.

The important outcome is that learners leave with greater clarity about their capabilities, stronger evidence of experience and a better understanding of the professional world they are preparing to enter.

The 2026/27 intake is now open

With the 2025/26 cohort complete, Doxabeta is now preparing for the 2026/27 academic year.
