From Digital Development to Project Leadership: Nana’s Journey
Nana joined Doxabeta as a T Level Digital Design and Development learner. Through skills assessment, project coordination and an Innovation Challenge, his natural strength for leading projects became clear — helping shape his progression into project management.

Starting with digital development
Nana joined Doxabeta as a T Level Digital Design and Development learner, initially taking part in the programme as a Project Coordinator.
Like many learners entering the technology sector, his starting point was broad. He had chosen a digital pathway, but had not yet fully connected his individual strengths with a specific career direction.
That began to change during his placement.
Discovering where his strengths were
As part of Doxabeta’s learner development process, Nana went through our Skills Builder programme to better understand his strongest transferable skills.
What stood out was his natural ability to:
organise people and activity
take ownership
communicate clearly
coordinate tasks
keep work moving
support team members
make decisions
lead with confidence
It became clear that Nana had a strong instinct for project leadership.
Creating opportunities to lead
Once those strengths became visible, Nana was given more opportunities to lead within Doxabeta.
During his Innovation Challenge, he took on greater responsibility within the team — helping coordinate activity, support collaboration and move the project forward.
This was where his project-management capability really began to develop.
Rather than simply participating in a project, Nana was learning how to help organise one.
Connecting skills to careers
One of the patterns we see at Doxabeta is that learners often have valuable natural strengths but are not always sure how those strengths connect to real careers.
A learner may enter technology assuming that software development is the main route.
But the technology sector is much broader.
There are roles in:
project management
business analysis
product
user experience
testing and quality assurance
data
operations
delivery management
stakeholder engagement
software development
Our role is not to force learners into a predefined pathway.
It is to help them understand their strengths, explore the different roles available and make better-informed decisions about where they may thrive.
From coordinator to project leader
For Nana, that meant recognising that his strongest contribution was not necessarily writing code.
It was helping people, tasks and ideas move forward.
Through project coordination, skills development and his Innovation Challenge experience, Nana began building confidence in:
planning
coordination
team leadership
communication
time management
managing priorities
supporting delivery
Those experiences gave him practical evidence of his ability to lead and organise work.
Progressing into project management
Nana’s Doxabeta experience helped him connect the dots between his natural strengths and a real career pathway.
He later progressed into a Junior Project Manager role at Amazon.
What began as a Digital Design and Development pathway helped uncover a much stronger fit in project management.
Nana’s reflection
“My experience at Doxabeta helped me develop critical skills in communication, team leadership and time management — skills I now use every day in my current role.”
Sometimes the pathway becomes clearer through experience
Nana’s journey reflects something important about career development.
Learners do not always know exactly where their strengths will take them when they begin.
Sometimes they need the right environment, the right experiences and someone to help them see the connection.
That is what real-world experience can do.
The pathway may begin in one place — but the right experience can reveal where a learner is truly strongest.
